Splattershot Jr sets: Ranked Mode

Splat Zones: Custom set

Splattershot Jr is one of the best painting units in the game but needs exrra power to survive from within the zones. With poor follow ups to a tossed Splat Bomb, Torpedo seems like a better option. You don't need to follow up on the attack. The paint released is often reward enough.

The goal is to quickly charge special, and the problem with Big Bubbler is that you can't well attack outside of it, nor does it help you initiate any offense. Nor does it support a playstyle based on painting the edges of the stage, necessary so as to keep control.

Although Wave Breaker from flanks isn't as effective, multiplying the amount of obstacles thrown into the field is what leads to attacks of opportunity. Ultimately, Custom set offers the tools most likely to cause damage to an opponent, which helps with eliminations and overall control.

Tower Control: Custom set

When you think about it, Torpedo is your only real way of painting the area near the tower considering all the fights that occurs there. Even a small amount of ink can fatally restrict the movement of a player in an already congested zone. Flank after launching Torpedo to misdirect your foe.

Wave Breaker lights up the enemy's defensive structure, providing valuable intel and ruining ambushes. Your specials are meant to come out ahead of the main team, which is why I suggest Custom over Vanilla set: if you're babysitting the tower with a Big Bubbler, you're not being active enough.

Your turfing abilities are too important to sit by on the tower. Move ahead with the purpose of restricting the opponent's fighting space, helping teammates pinpoint and eliminate targets. If the enemy selects you specifically, retreat to safety and resume inking.

Rainmaker: Vanilla set

Splattershot Jr's barrier damage is rather low, but a Splat Bomb can help hasten matters at a cost to your ink reserves. Otherwise, it is best to play conservatively, with few risks. Cover your movement with more Splat Bombs, to poke and prod whether it's wise to go ahead.

Splat Jr is one part paint support and one part bomb support. The primary goal being to grant fighting room for your teammates but also to supplement their offense with Splat Bombs. You can guess that the enemy wants the shortest path to the checkpoint, so you know where to toss a Splat Bomb to intercept.

Big Bubbler is your major pushing tool; both to prevent being swept away by enemy fire and to rally your troops around its beakon. You can use it as a stopper to block a path on defense, though you'll need bombs to secure your camp. Concentrate on slowing the pace of the enemy, and let teammates deal the offense.

Clam Blitz: Vanilla set

Though Clam Blitz offers wide stages demanding a huge quantity of area inked, you'll be too busy collecting eggs to dedicate yourself to full paint support. Splat Bomb helps you hold your own when under enemy attack, and serves to intimidate opponents when fighting for a contested clam spawn.

This set offers the stronger defensive options, necessary when everything goes wrong. Fast exploding Splat Bomb to prevent others from using the tossing platform, Big Bubbler to ward the immediate area from the enemy. Though fighting out of the enclosure might be difficult, your teammates will appreciate the bulwark.

Big Bubbler also helps when approaching the basket line, both to give a holding point from which your friends can attack but also a beacon for super jumps. When used in the middle of battle, consider leaving the Bubbler to seek out new clams or flank the enemy.
