Rapid Blaster Pro sets: Ranked Mode

Splat Zones: Deco set

The Rapid Blaster Pro is a mobile, evasive backliner that pings whatever targets are available. It also has a long inkprint that easily reaches the end of a zone. Because you're vulnerable on defense, tag offensive units early with Angle Shooter both to prepare a counterattack and to warn friends of the threat.

It's often safer to bounce an Angle Shooter around a zone than to try filling the area with ink. Ink is painted over, while tracking offers lasting info on your foe's next move. On offense, the Angle Shooter and main gun combo shot will quickly eliminate an anchor.

Killer Wail 5.1 is another source of chip damage to combo with RPBD. More importantly, it tracks positions and helps you aim like an automatic Angle Shooter. With added tools to rapidly eliminate enemies, the Deco is preferable as an anti-painter weapon.

Tower Control: Vanilla set

Being a Blaster on Tower Control is nice, but low DPS means you're vulnerable to short range fighters surging out of nowhere. Before you get overwhelmed, toss a Toxic Mist at the tower. Once you've hindered combat there, escape for a vantage spot from which you can look over the tower. Hold the situation for now.

If you're not riding the tower, you're in search of targets to ping. With the fixed range of Rapid Blaster Pro, Toxic Mist serves to fill the gap and help with inclines. You're basically stalling for time until teammates come in and finish off the opposition. Only then do you ride the tower.

Ink Vac is a powerful special to secure your advantage and nullify returning fire. On defense, tower riders will vacate in fear of your charged shot, helping your purpose. On offense, the blast clears away the last defenders, where they can be finished off with the RBP.

Rainmaker: Deco set

Using the Rainmaker as your focal point, ping those opponents trying to directly attack the barrier. The problem comes when an aggressive slayer notices and directly targets you.  Use that aggressiveness to your advantage and tag those people with an Angle Shooter, then circle around the barrier to evade.

You're no good in a brawl so it's important to methodically identify and eliminate every threat. Fall back as needed, tag your targets and work toward gaining incremental advantages. Because your weapon easily turns chip damage into a splat, it's best to leave the Rainmaker to others and "chip in".

Killer Wail 5.1 should be activated as ready. It breaks up coordinated assaults and can identify isolated flankers. In practice, it is an additional source of chip damage from which you splat from, and the infinite range means you don't need to expose yourself to reap the benefits.

Clam Blitz: Vanilla set

Clam Blitz is a difficult mode for the RBP as it lacks power to quickly halt an enemy in movement. Not to mention the rigid blast length makes it hard to react to suddenly appearing clam gatherers. Toxic Mist offers flexibility and a defensive tool within this chaotic mode.

RBP is an evasive backline trying to establish control while everyone else is gathering eggs. The gun paints well at a distance and harasses other backline players perfectly. With good painting, spotting ambushers becomes easier. In that respect, both subweapon and special are adept at stopping threats at midrange or closer.

Ink Vac is particularly useful when on defense and trying to stop people from tossing clams. It's more supportive on offense to teammates trying to toss clams themselves. Ultimately, it's better immediate protection than Killer Wail in a game mode where everything can go wrong very quickly.
