Tetra Dualies sets: Ranked Mode

Splat Zones: Dark set

Tetra Dualies aren't so dependent on their kit but I'm showing which set works best in which mode for the sake of completion. Tetras use their ink reserves to stay mobile and paint as much as possible, even when they can't directly head for the zones for fear of feeding.

In that context, Reefslider has the biggest impact when fighting for the zones. It's a huge hammer blow more likely to lead to a takeover than Zipcaster. The Tetras are hardly special spammers but can quickly ink the outside areas for meter.

If you don't have the initiative in a skirmish, drop an Autobomb and stall for time. Autobombs can also be used to pester people on higher platforms while you're painting. Your priority is moving from area to area, but saving some ink for a diversion can be life saving.

Tower Control: Light set

If all you use the Sprinkler for is meter building, that would be well enough. You're an aggressive mobile painter constantly searching to attack potential targets. If you find yourself able to retreat against an organized defense, you should toss a Sprinkler as you remaneuver; if only to keep building meter.

The payoff is Zipcaster, a special that grants you quick access to the backline for maximum chaos. Use your rolls to cancel midair floating animation and quickly take out anchors. Though the Reefslider is a tower clearer, you are a skirmisher looking for targets of maximum value.

Being able to quickly takeover an area no one is fighting for gives you a huge beachhead for a potential assault. You're not truly a slayer but a mix of painting and harassment. Forge ahead, planting Sprinklers over Checkpoints so as to make fighting there easier.

Rainmaker: Light set

Similar to Tower Control, you want the Light set so as to access Zipcaster and wreck havoc amongst the enemy backline. The Reefslider has its charm, and the Dapple Dualies Nouveau uses it well in this mode, but the value of taking out an anchor beats hammering the enemy front lines.

Sprinkler can be tossed near the Rainmaker barrier for quicker Rainmaker shredding. Again, it's something you toss while changing positions to keep building meter. You want to keep scooting and shooting throughout the match but must recognize once you meet a wall.

I would not rank the Tetras as a slayer, but recognize that their mobile fire should preclude it from picking up the Rainmaker. That privilege is reserved for anchor and support units, and the Tetra is neither. Tacking a diversion like the Sprinkler to your own diversion assault is just good strategy.

Clam Blitz: Dark set

Play more conservatively in Clam Blitz, as deaths here have greater impact, especially if you were carrying clams. Tetras play an odd mix of harassment and clam collecting; and although they are great stage painters, here stealth and survival plays a greater role.

Autobombs hold a greater role in telling your teammates where the opponent is headed. They prevent you from overextending during enemy retreats, and can cover your own escapes as well. They're an information tool for when advancing isn't an option.

We all know Zipcaster has poor synergy with the Clam Blitz mode, thus Reefslider provides a general purpose slaying special. Excellent for bursting through enemy defenses either to rescue a dropped power clam or assail the basket.
