H-3 Nozzlenose sets: Ranked Mode
Splat Zones: Vanilla set
Although the D set does offer options to ward the zones from enemy ink, make no mistake: your goal is to splat enemy painting units. And if you cannot splat them, your set should help support others in this endeavor. Besides, Splash Walls cost half an ink tank and your main can't paint in a cost effective manner.
Identify potential targets with Point Sensors and work with your team to eliminate them. Your main Shooter is threatening enough that short range enemies should be wary of fighting you. Thus you might want to save ink by reserving Point Sensors for potential flankers.
Although Tacticooler won't shut off a zone like a Big Bubbler, the special is better suited for a mid to backline shooter. Advance to remove anchors and retreat against front liners. Tacticooler ensures pressure from just behind the front lines and personally grants more mobility to counteract aggressive fighters.
Tower Control: D set
Surprisingly, the purpose of the D set is to prevent counter rushes as you commit to paint and fire support from the front lines. These actions are necessary as the tower can't reliably move while there are people playing intercept. Protect yourself with Splash Wall, and fight back appropriately.
If no targets are immediately available, then you should paint. If you paint, you'll attract the attention of the other team, and they'll have the initiative in any ensuing confrontations. Splash Wall safeguards what progress you've made. When people hide behind the tower, don't take the bait. Paint or build meter.
Because Big Bubbler is the prize. A forward barrier that's easy to hold and sets up further pushes from the team. You're in a better position than ever to deny and answer enemy sniper fire with straight bursts of your own, canceling the enemy backline entirely. It certainly blocks shots better than Tacticooler.
Rainmaker: Vanilla set
H-3 Nozzlenose seeks to intimidate enemy Barrier shredders with the threat of Point Sensor and precise long range fire. Paint before fighting, and pay attention to anchors setting up. Prioritize taking them out over Barrier shredders to rob the opposing team of their control elements.
On the move, Point Sensors are thrown to indicate threats for the Rainmaker carrier. Being a bodyguard means being acutely aware of where threats come from. The main gun has strong defensive functions that should take out anyone making a beeline for your carrier.
Because of these defensive strengths, Tacticooler might be the better special. H-3 makes for a natural center point to the team and gives them added tools to advance past you. With every front line breach, you can push further to remove enemy anchors. If anyone is sacrificed, Tacticooler reduces the overall loss.
Clam Blitz: D set
Imagine that the enemy holds the Power Clam. You and everyone else knows where they are. Between the Splash Wall and the combined range and power of the H-3D, you are perfectly positioned to block their advance and hold an entire team in respect until help arrives.
So you play defense. Protecting the land gains your support player provided is also a part of Clam Blitz. A better term for what you're doing is push support. In that respect, Big Bubbler simultaneously protects the forward position and helps reinforcements return so as to push further.
The ability to drop a Big Bubbler at their end zone grants terrific pressure against the enemy basket. You can even push a Splash Wall beyond a forward Bubbler to absolutely prevent any anchors from playing a relevant role. Once you force others to engage you, the D becomes the better set to counter movement.
