Bloblobber sets: Ranked Mode
Splat Zones: Vanilla set
As with many anchor weapons, the Bloblobber wants to paint the zones with Sprinkler so that it may concentrate on individual foes. The Bloblobber fights best from a vantage point; but when forced out of position, a Sprinkler tossed on the fly buys time and prevents too much critical area in the zone from being lost.
Sprinkler also works well within the context of a push. Tossed out immediately after exiting swim state, the Sprinkler forces spacing and upholds a certain distance from your target. It prevents an immediate counterattack, buying time to lob more blobs.
Ink Storm is an all-purpose special in the context of Splat Zones, notable because it allows you to keep attacking and tossing Sprinklers. It doesn't get in the way of painting as with Kraken Royale. Useful defensively as area denial, but also offensively as added chip damage to combo with blobs.
Tower Control: Deco set
The Bloblobber must contend with the fact that although a backliner, its blobs become greatly diminished at range. Angle Shooter keeps you a threat, for anyone tagged by it can't approach the tower without being found out. Rather than try to paint the enemy area with tiny blobs, prevent the enemy from freely moving without consequences.
Your greatest threat will come in the form of flankers. Here, Angle Shooter becomes a necessary tool to remove the element of surprise from them. On offense, Angle Shooter can marginally be used to attack opposing backliners but that is hardly a priority. You are a dedicated tower rider and defender.
Kraken Royale helps you just as much with dealing against flankers as when you've been pressured off the tower. Again, no one expects you to push past the tower much, so this special is meant to cement your position of tower defender.
Rainmaker: Deco set
A top tier Barrier shredder that can do its business from a distance, the Bloblobber excels in a defensive role. You could pick Sprinkler to help out against the Barrier, but Angle Shooter does one thing the main weapon cannot: fire upwards. A useful skill when an enemy is on a platform out of reach.
In addition to freeing the Rainmaker, you provide fire support for your team, either with blobs or with Angle Shooter. Consider your main and subweapon equally: they're both long range weapons, but one dribbles downwards and the other one doesn't.
Kraken Royale allows you to push further with little fear of ending up stranded as the main weapon is quite handy starting from a midrange distance. Either attack the Rainmaker carrier directly while on defense, or take up all the attention on offense and help your Rainmaker carrier on.
Clam Blitz: Vanilla set
Bloblobber plays midline fire support and supports teammates in firefights. It acts as a defensive slayer; a threat to anyone on the front lines, but should not extend outside of its territory to hunt targets. To really hammer its influence on the field, it needs Ink Storm. To build the storm, it needs Sprinkler.
Sprinkler is typically tossed on the move, as a way to entice opponents into attacking it. The patsy thus becomes more susceptible to your string of blobs. Clam Blitz is typically a wide mode and Sprinkler enables your offense, gathering attention so that you may strike from stealth.
Ink Storm is what allows the Bloblobber to press on offense and get anchors off their high ground. As a wide acting special, it can deny an entire area of the stage to be used as a defensive platform, such as the basket line. The lingering effect emboldens your team to push, further cementing a forward position you want held.
